Congratulations to Girton’s Class of 2024

12 December 2024 听听

Spirits were high as Girton Grammar鈥檚 Class of 2024 gathered with school staff this morning to celebrate the release of this year鈥檚 VCE results.

With more than 17% of Girton鈥檚 Year 12 VCE students receiving an ATAR above 90, it was a rewarding conclusion to their 13 years of schooling.

Graduates Morgan Cullen, Miffy Fisher, William Bowles and Emma Hines were thrilled to achieve ATARs above 95, placing them in the top 5% of the state.

While pleasantly surprised by her score, Miffy was delighted to see the culmination of the effort she had put in throughout her time in Senior School.

鈥淢y ATAR was quite unexpected 鈥 I didn鈥檛 think I would get the result I did so that was definitely a huge relief,鈥 she said.

鈥淚 look back and I genuinely feel like I need to credit my teachers for half of this score because they are so hardworking and always there. They have instilled a lifelong love of learning in me, and for that I鈥檒l always be grateful.鈥

The journey of the Class of 2024 has not been without its challenges, with the COVID-19 pandemic arriving just as they began to hit their stride as Year 8 students.

However, Girton鈥檚 Principal, Dr Emma O鈥橰ielly, believes persevering through the disruption and uncertainty shaped the cohort into resilient individuals capable of facing any challenge, including the pressures of their final VCE examinations.

鈥淭he fact that almost 50% of our students were placed in the top 20% of the state is a testament to the perseverance, adaptability and optimism of this exceptional group of young people,鈥 Dr O鈥橰ielly said.

鈥淲e are so proud of the remarkable people they have grown into during their time at Girton, and today we are elated to see their pride in the results they have worked hard to achieve.鈥

Dr O鈥橰ielly also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the students鈥 teachers and families throughout their schooling journey.

鈥淭hese outcomes would not be possible without the academic guidance and pastoral care provided by our staff, coupled with the encouragement of our families on the home front 鈥 so today we also congratulate them for their efforts,鈥 she said.

Reflecting on the strong commitment to community and environmental initiatives the cohort displayed throughout their final year of schooling, Dr O鈥橰ielly expressed confidence in their future prospects.

鈥淲e cannot wait to see the fulfilling lives and careers they will forge for themselves, equipped not just with their VCE results but with the strong values and social-emotional skills we have strived to impart during their time at Girton,鈥 Dr O鈥橰ielly said.

鈥淲e know these are the skills today鈥檚 employers are seeking, and that our students will need to thrive in the ever-evolving world beyond our school.鈥

黑料网 extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024 and wishes them every success in the exciting chapter ahead.
