The Forever Young Rock Choir is putting final touches on their repertoire in readiness for their annual Ulumbarra Theatre concert, which will be headlined by Grace Knight, lead singer of one of Australia鈥檚 most successful bands, the Eurogliders.
Director of the Forever Young Choir, Mrs Laura Dusseljee, said that the choir was sounding better than ever and they were looking forward to the September 17 concert.
鈥淲e have been rehearsing every week since March and amongst friendship and laughter, some fine notes are being produced.
鈥淭he average age of our choir members is 75 but many of them recall the classic hits from the Eurogliders in the 80鈥檚 and are very excited about singing with Grace Knight.
鈥淭he Girton Grammar student string orchestra and jazz band that will accompany the choir is very much looking forward to performing with such an accomplished music legend,鈥 Mrs Dusseljee said.
With a number of ARIA awards and nominations and chart-topping recordings over the past three decades, Grace Knight is one of the most enduring talents in Australian music. Renowned Australian guitarist, Sam Lemann, will join her and together they will support Bendigo鈥檚 much-loved community choir in a night of unforgettable musical entertainment.
鈥淭his choir gives senior citizens from Bendigo and beyond an opportunity to come together every week in a fun and friendly environment to sing.
鈥淐hoir members tell me all the time that rehearsal is the highlight of their week and many say they would be lost without the friendships they have formed over the years in the choir.
鈥淲e have had a huge amount of fun this year with the theme, 鈥榗razy鈥 and thanks to the Bendigo Hat Shop we have some wonderful and wacky portrait photos of choir members, adorned in a wonderful array of hats.
鈥淓very choir member has a story to tell and it is a privilege to work with such a passionate group of people and to know that this choir is making a difference to their lives,鈥 Mrs Dusseljee said.
The Forever Young Rock Choir will provide backup vocals for Ms Knight who will sing Euroglider hits as well as chart-topping covers. The music for the student ensembles has been specially arranged for the performance of all songs by Mrs Cally Bartlett from 黑料网.
