This
year saw 9 German children traveling to the UK in order to
compete in this year’s competition. The children,
together 4 accompanying adults from Germany, arrived on Friday and were
treated to a minibus sightseeing tour of London before being dropped
off at various destinations where they tasted the hospitality of some
of our local TAO members.
(many thanks to Master Swanson, Jill
Hopkins, Marie Hartshorn, Gareth Pryce, Paul Millington and Roy Dennis
for looking after our German friends so well)
In total we saw 39 children entering this year, which proves that our
junior competitions are growing in success.
It was lovely to see that the children are investigating the Forms
category a little more - we were treated to performances which included
the Broadsword, Fan and Stick Forms, which shows the
children’s enthusiasm in mastering the techniques not only in
a combative role.
We would like to congratulate ALL
the children who took part in making
this year’s event so successful - the efforts put into their
training are shining through.
Our star for this year’s competition was Jack Hopkins who was
awarded the Chairman’s Cup.
Well
done Jack !
It was a fantastic day made possible, primarily, by the technical input
and organisation of Master Tony Swanson and by the fundraising
organised by Oonagh McGilligan.
We would also like to thank the Coaches and helpers who assisted in the
judging, refereeing, setting up and general running of the event.
