Confidence the key to VCE

14th December 2015

Jacob Waller, who today received his VCE results, believes that having a go at lots of things gives you confidence that can be useful during times of stress.Jacob Waller from 黑料网 in Bendigo balanced Year 12 studies with other activities

鈥淚鈥檓 so glad I did a range of co-curricular activities, right through Year 12 at Girton Grammar.

鈥淚 think it provided an outlet but also helped to build confidence by mastering new things,鈥 Jacob said.

Jacob studied Maths Methods, Japanese, Chemistry, English Language, Physical Education and Further Mathematics for VCE and hopes to go on to study Physiotherapy. Swimming and watching 鈥淕鈥 rated movies provided him with the physical and mental down-time he needed to refresh.

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 really important to have a balance between study, exercise, down time, family and socialising with friends, during Year 12.

鈥淚 even watched kid鈥檚 movies as a way of completely switching off,鈥 he said.

Jacob credits his Japanese teacher, Mrs Mo Watanabe with making him feel positive about Year 12.

鈥淢rs Watanabe鈥檚 ongoing support and care made me feel highly capable. She was particularly helpful in making sure I was always organised.

鈥淕irton in general has provided all of us with the support and encouragement needed to have the confidence to put yourself out there and give everything a go.

鈥淭he whole cohort was given so much assistance throughout the year and I鈥檓 really grateful too, for the guidance that we received with regard to life after year 12.

鈥淚t helped us to stay motivated and focused and has given us a good idea of what to expect beyond school,鈥 he said.
